Why voids after midnight deserve their own sample

Hospitality venues in Pattaya often run their busiest refunds and voids after tour groups leave and permanent managers have gone home. A financial audit of point-of-sale applications that only samples lunch service will miss the hours when temporary staff hold the privileged PIN.

What we pull

For a late-night sample we ask for:

  • Void and refund tickets between 22:00 and close across two weeks
  • The user IDs attached to those tickets
  • Whether the POS application still required a manager override after a certain amount

Patterns that show up

Shared “manager” logins are common. So is a habit of voiding a whole table then re-ringing a smaller check without a second person present. Neither proves theft on its own; both widen the cash exposure the report should name.

A practical control

If your POS application allows it, require dual approval above a modest threshold and print a void slip that stays in the drawer envelope until morning count. If it does not, keep a paper log signed by two people until the vendor can enable the setting.

When you commission a full audit, tell us which nights use casual staff — those shifts go into the sample first.
