Audit engagement
Cash control walkthrough
A half-day to two-day floor session watching how staff use voids, refunds, and drawer opens inside your POS application.
Who it is for
Owners who suspect loose habits at the till — shared logins, refunds after closing, or drawers opened without a sale — and want a clear list of control changes before commissioning a longer audit.
Session flow
We shadow open and close, ask supervisors to demonstrate privileged screens, and note where the POS application allows a single person to complete a cash-affecting action without a second check. You leave with a one-page control memo the same week.
Included
- Observation at up to two tills per visit day
- Privilege and override checklist for your POS application
- Verbal debrief before we leave the floor
Constraints
We do not confront individual staff about suspected theft during the walkthrough. Findings stay with the engagement sponsor.
Next step
Book a walkthrough date — evenings and weekend trading peaks are available by arrangement.
